Hey its a small poem that i have kept with me since quite a long time. Haven't written it myself, but read it somewhere. Many of you must have read it before, but for those who have not, check it out...
Its something touched my heart, hope it makes a difference to you.....
"I went to a party, Mum,
I remembered what you said.
You told me not to drink and drive, Mum,
So I drank sprite instead.
I felt really proud inside, Mum,
The way you said I would.
I didn't drink and drive, Mum,
Even though the others said I should.
I know I did the right thing, Mum,
I know you're always right.
Now the party is finally ending, Mum,
As everyone drives out of sight.
As I got into my car, Mum,
I knew I'd get home in one piece,
Because of the way you raised me, Mum,
So responsible and sweet.
I started to drive away, Mum,
But as I pulled onto the road,
The other car didn't see me, Mum,
And it hit me like a load.
As I lie here on the pavement, Mum,
I hear the policeman say,
The other guy is drunk, Mum,
And now I'm the one who'll pay.
I'm lying here dying, Mum,
I wish you'd get here soon.
How come this happened to me, Mum?
My life burst like a balloon.
There is blood all around me, Mum,
Most of it is mine.
I hear the paramedic say, Mum,
I'll be dead in a short time.
I just wanted to tell you, Mum,
I swear I didn't drink.
It was the others, Mum,
The others didn't think.
He didn't know where he was going, Mum,
He was probably at the same party as I.
The only difference is, Mum,
He drank, and I will die.
Why do people drink, Mum?
It can ruin your whole life.
I'm feeling sharp pains now, Mum,
Pains just like a knife.
The guy who hit me is walking, Mum,
I don't think it's fair.
I'm lying here dying, Mum,
While all he can do is stare.
Tell my brother not to cry, Mum,
Tell Daddy to be brave.
And when I get to heaven, Mum,
Write "Daddy's Girl" on my grave.
Someone should have told him, Mum,
Not to drink and drive.
If only they'd have take the time, Mum,
I would still be alive.
My breath is getting shorter, Mum,
I'm becoming very scared.
Please don't cry for me, Mum,
Because when I needed you, you were always there.
I have one last question, Mum,
Before I say good-bye.
I didn't ever drink, Mum,
So why am I to die?
This is the end, Mum,
I wish I could look you in the eye.
To say these final words, Mum,
I love you, and good-bye."
So if you do not care about yourself, atleast think and care about others.

Monster Eclipse (22nd July 2009)
Well, many of us got a chance to experience on of the longest total solar eclipses of the 21st century on the 22nd of July 2009 early morning. Its was experienced in many parts of the world including India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar and China. Here in India also it was seen at a number of places including Surat, Varanasi, Vadodara, Bhopal, Patna, Lucknow and so on. Thousands and lakhs of people actually waited the entire night at places from where the eclipse would be easily seen. I too stayed up the entire night to catch this site, even though not live, on the television.
Atleast on T.V, the people that actually gethered there were more of the middle class and the lower middle class people. It was really cool to see the way the waited there even in the rains. However, many people were least interested in being a part of this phenomena, outside and even at homes. Im sure that a huge sum of people would have not even taken the trouble to wake up and switch on their T.V.'s. I even happened to come across people, the day before the eclipse who said " Whats so great it seeing it!". Its a known fact that such an occurance will only happen next after another 100 years, by then not many would actually be alive to see it. I understand that it was just a normal solar eclipse with the moon over shadowing the sun, but the main part, why even some channels called it the 'Monster' eclipse was the duration for which the moon totally overshadowed the sun. Was around 3 minutes to 6 minutes, depending on the location you would view it from.
It is very important for people to understand that not only are wars, president elections or may be terrorist attacks a part of historic moments, but such phenomenons should also be given their dues. The are naturally occuring and a beautiful site to watch. I was not lucky enough to view the eclipse live in the sky, as it wasn't seen where I reside, but sure am happy and content I atleast got a chance to see it on T.V.
